Local Plastering for Walls and Ceilings

Damaged plaster, uneven surfaces and old finishes can make decorating difficult. Professional plastering provides a smooth base for paint or wallpaper, helping bring the whole room together.

We undertake plastering as a standalone service or alongside our wider roofing and building work. That means we can help with everything from repairing a ceiling after a roof leak has been resolved to finishing rooms following a renovation.

Our plastering services include:

  • Wall skimming and re-skimming.

  • Ceiling plastering and repairs.

  • Plasterboarding and dry lining.

  • Suitable ceiling overboarding.

  • Patch repairs to damaged plaster.

  • Making good after electrical and plumbing work.

  • Plastering following knock-throughs and internal alterations.

  • Full-room and property refurbishment plastering.

Wall Skimming and Re-Skimming

If your walls are tired, marked or uneven, re-skimming may provide a fresh surface without replacing all the existing plaster.

We check the condition of the background before recommending the work. Loose plaster, unsuitable coatings or underlying damp need attention before a new finish is applied.

Wall skimming can be suitable for:

  • Rooms being redecorated after wallpaper removal.

  • Sound existing plaster with surface imperfections.

  • Previously repaired walls with an uneven finish.

  • Newly plasterboarded walls.

  • Rooms being updated as part of a renovation.

Our focus is on careful preparation and a consistent finish, ready for decorating once the plaster has dried.

Ceiling Plastering and Repairs

A freshly plastered ceiling can make a noticeable difference to a room. We undertake ceiling skimming, plasterboard replacement and repairs to damaged areas across Wirral.

The right approach depends on the ceiling’s condition. Some ceilings can be prepared and skimmed, while others need damaged sections replaced or a new plasterboard surface.

Where overboarding is suitable, we can discuss this as an option. If the ceiling has been affected by a leak, the cause needs to be resolved and the condition of the existing materials assessed before plastering begins.

We’ll explain the proposed method and the extent of the finishing work in your quote.

Plasterboarding and Dry Lining

Plasterboard provides a new surface for walls and ceilings where the existing background is unsuitable or new construction needs finishing.

We carry out plasterboarding for internal alterations, renovations and ceiling work, with the board type and fixing method chosen to suit the location and project requirements.

Our work can include boarding new partitions, replacing damaged sections and preparing walls and ceilings for a skim finish.

If you’re unsure whether a surface needs re-skimming or replacing, we can assess it and discuss the options with you.

Patch Repairs and Making Good

Not every plastering job requires a whole room to be skimmed. We also undertake smaller repairs, including damaged areas around doorways, holes in walls and making good after other trades.

Typical work includes:

  • Filling and plastering cable chases after electrical work.

  • Repairs around relocated sockets and pipework.

  • Making good following radiator alterations.

  • Repairing localised damaged or loose plaster.

  • Finishing around new openings and structural alterations.

We aim to blend repairs into the surrounding surface. Where extensive patching would leave an inconsistent finish, we’ll explain whether skimming the complete wall or ceiling would give a better result.

Plastering for Renovations and Knock-Throughs

Plastering is an important finishing stage after building work. New openings, boxed-in beams and altered walls all need to meet neatly with the existing room.

At Apex Pro Roofing & Building, we can include plastering within the agreed scope of a wider renovation or quote for it separately.

We’ll clarify which walls, ceilings, reveals and adjoining areas are included, helping you plan the next stages of flooring, joinery and decorating.

How Much Does Plastering Cost in Wirral?

Plastering costs depend on more than the room’s floor area. The condition of the surfaces and the preparation required can make a significant difference.

Your quote will take account of:

  • The area of walls and ceilings being plastered.

  • Whether existing plaster is sound.

  • Any plasterboarding or repairs needed.

  • Ceiling height and access.

  • Corners, openings and other detailing.

  • Protection, waste removal and the agreed finish.

Send us photographs, approximate measurements and your location to start the conversation. Where needed, we’ll arrange a visit before confirming the price.

Plastering Questions

Can you plaster just one wall or ceiling?

Yes. We welcome enquiries for individual walls, ceilings and small repairs, as well as full rooms and larger refurbishment projects.

Can you skim over existing plaster?

Often, provided the existing plaster is sound and properly prepared. Loose, damaged or unsuitable backgrounds may need repair or replacement first.

Do I need to empty the room?

An empty room gives the best access. Where large furniture cannot be removed, discuss it with us beforehand so we can agree suitable working space and protection.

How long before I can paint new plaster?

Wait until the plaster is fully dry. Drying time varies with the background, thickness, temperature and ventilation, so there isn’t one timescale for every job. Follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions for preparing and coating new plaster.

Can you repair a water-damaged ceiling?

We can assess the plastering repairs once the source of the leak has been resolved. The affected area may need time to dry, and damaged plasterboard or other materials may need replacing.
